There are two types of people who will watch the video below. One is the type that believes that the stories told by the Spanish are a bunch of b.s. fantasy posing as history.

The other is the type that believes that the Native Americans could not have possibly been the ones who built the pyramids. (It was the aliens who made them, remember?) Much less could they possibly have been smart enough, strong enough, or ballsy enough to confront the Spanish from the start, overwhelm them tactfully, and destroyed their ships.

Watch me break down how Moctezuma destroying the Spanish fleet was a possibility.

Here is another installment to The X Codex channel on YouTube. I know it is not the best quality, but this will change once finances allow it. For now, I have been working hard for weeks trying to get it good enough to record. That is, the audio system, the video elements, and of course the info I am transmitting. Again, I know the visual, audio, and organization still needs work. But trust me, I am on it. This is going to improve with every video. Starting with the content, and ending with the equipment. Who Controls The Past?

In the meantime, this is what I published as my "About" section. It came out better than the efforts I've made here so far to explain where I'm coming from and where I intend to take this. One thing is certain, this isn't some simple ploy to sell a book series or to make money only. Of course I do want to do those two things, as well. But the underlying mission is a greater one. I have been grappling with this topic for at least two decades and now the spirit has finally deemed the time appropriate to send me the message I must communicate. This is part of that message:

"I am an American Mexican author of fiction. I am also a publisher of social awareness literature, an actor, and an arts and book promoter. My author blog is called The X Codex, and in it, I cover topics ranging from space colonization, identity, and world affairs to historical topics. Currently, I am concentrating my creative efforts on debunking the long-held myths about the fall of the Aztec empire, which supposedly occurred at the hands of a little band of Spanish "conquistadors". My belief is that the history of the fall of the Aztec empire is predominantly based on fictional stories crafted by Hernan Cortez (which is the one thing he and I share in common: writing historical fiction) and others who wished to make the case to the Spanish crown that they deserved compensation for having added an entire world to their domains. But, in fact, the Spanish conquistadors were, first of all, outlaws in the eyes of the Spanish realm; and secondly, they were mere participants in the subsequent defeat of the Aztecs, and not the predominant force causing their demise.

I have written a historical fiction book series titled "The X Series". Book 1 in that series is titled "Tenochtitlan Must Fall". In this book, as well as in the subsequent ones, I will demonstrate in a fictional setting how the events which led to the end of the Aztecs could have (and in my view, did) occurred entirely without the influence or direction of Cortez and the Spaniards. Ultimately, I argue through my blog that we do not have to accept a version of history that negatively depicts our ancestors, and therefore, ourselves; especially when that history is still largely uncorroborated by independent, indigenous primary sources.

The entirety of the claims made about how the Aztecs practiced human sacrifice, believed Cortez was the god Quetzalcoatl, thought the Spaniards and their horses were one continuous creature, and other myths about the ignorance and unsophistication of Aztec people comes directly and solely from Spanish sources and enemies of the Aztecs. Therefore, it is my belief that we can discount their version of history on the basis of being utterly unreliable, and remake a version that fits a common-sense view of the series of events, circumstances, and conditions already present in the Americas that concluded with the fall of their civilization; particularly, the distinct and very real possibility that the people of Mexico--just like in the 1800s and in 1910--could have chosen to change the direction of their destiny through insurrection, thereby toppling the Aztecs. But since the Spanish had already arrived and brought devastating diseases, this caused a colossal epidemic that wiped out millions, which destabilized all existing governmental, religious, and societal structures allowing the Spanish to step in to replace them with European governmental and religious institutions.

My plan is to remain on this topic for as long as I have to--years, perhaps--(although I do intend to utilize levity and variety in my blog posts and videos) in spite of the fact that I do enjoy writing about other topics. However, I have been a student of Mexican ancient history for twenty-four years and for most of that time, I was always puzzled deeply by the clear deficiencies and outright outrageousness of many aspects of the official history. So I intend to employ all of my effort, energy, time, and skills to craft a clear picture of my vision of a new historical perspective that not only clears the past of the stains it bears, but also brightens the path to the future leading to a better, more inclusive destiny for brown people of the Americas among the peoples of the world."

X Reasons for Debate

There's a raging debate about the terms we use to identify ourselves with. Currently there is a movement to include the letter X at the end of Spanish language terms like "Latino/a" or "Chicana/o". Spanish highlights the binary view of gender. Use of the X in place of the "a" and "o" eliminates the problem of non-inclusiveness of people who do not agree nor identify as simply male or female.

I have had a hard time processing the proposition of these new terms to replace established forms. Not because I identify with being Latino or Chicano exclusively. Nor is it because I am a purist. Far from it. I believe in the fluidity of identity, language, culture, and most things that in combination make up the individuals and, therefore, societal groups' idea of self across the world. My problem with the terms replacing the last vowel with X are that they only address the gender questions and not the equally (if not more so) important questions of "colonized" identities. I believe that if we were to truly address the roots of some of our identity issues they would boil down to a nonconformity with the way we as individual hetero-homo-other-sexual beings have been defined by a cultural tradition with limited scope and understanding of the vast possibilities of human identifiers; conceptualizations of the self which, some have argued, were present in the Americas before the arrival of the first Europeans to the continental mainlands, which were the Spanish wanderers and eventual first European colonizers.

Essentially, placing an X at the end of these prescribed terms is an ineffectual solution to the problem. I propose the sole use of the X itself to refer to oneself or to others like us. In that way we eliminate the gender-confining use of the "a" and the "o" while at the same time doing away with the overt link to the Latinized influence of our past. This is, of course, impossible to completely erase because many of us still use romantic languages such as Spanish. But it would be a better, less confusing, more effective start.

Malcolm X (whose birth name was Malcolm Little) supposedly changed his last name to "X" because it was a statement addressing the idea that he had lost his original African true name, which had been replaced with a slave owner-given last name. In essence, from what I gather, the X represents his original last name being canceled, extinguished, or exed-out. So, too, have the purported American Native views of the non-binary forms of being been exed-out through colonization. So, therefore, I again argue that the true problem here is not the binary versus non-binary question alone. The root of it is the colonized mindset which affects all other aspects of the self at the individual and collective levels alike.

I had not reflected upon this topic for a while, although I have grappled with it from time to time. But today I saw a post on social media based on an article online which brought me right back to this question. The person who posted the article posed a very thought-provoking question asking:

"Why is the X pronounced as X in English pronunciation and not x in Spanish ("silent" j, as in Oaxaca) if the rest of the word is pronounced with Spanish pronunciation (which seems logical) although I have heard a few mostly "Anglo" commentators saying LatinX as in the ancient language...which really feel like screeching chalk on chalkboards (yeah, I know some of you don't remember) (I'm trying hard to feel right about using "Latinx" but it bugs me every time I hear it pronounced as "X/eks" and I think this is part of why,
(plus it represents the bigger issue of trends that seem to ignore inconvenient historical context & implications) Really, I just want an explanation of the pronunciation, because maybe there is something I am not taking into consideration here."
